Duane K. Hultgren, 70

Karlstad - Duane K. Hultgren, 70, died Friday, December 5, 1997 at his home in Karlstad.

Funeral services will be held today, Wednesday, December 10 at 2 p.m. at First Lutheran Church in Karlstad with Pastor Gary Halverson officiating. Special music will be provided by organist Kirstin Olson and soloist Delmoure Hultgren. Casketbearers will be Dayton, Donald, Douglas, Dennis, Delmoure and Dwight Hultgren. Burial will be at Karlstad Cemetery with military honors accorded by Karstad American Legion Post 445. The Collins Funeral Home of Karlstad is in charge of the arrangements.

Duane Keith Hultgren was born March 7, 1927 in Springbrook township near Kennedy, the son of Harry and Alpha (Anderson) Hultgren. He attended school and grew to manhood there and was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. Duane served with the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II and was discharged in October of 1946.

On June 30, 1957 he was united in marriage to Geraldine Wollin at Karlstad. He worked for area farmers for many years, for Leonard Thompson Construction and also on the Iron Range near Hibbing. He was a member of the First Lutheran Church of Karlstad and the Karlstad American Legion Post 445.

Duane is survived by his wife, Geraldine; three daughters, Amy (Brad) Nelson of Manvel, ND, Ann Christinson of Karlstad and Elizabeth Hultgren of Montrose; five sons, Mark of East Grand Forks, Gregory of Minneapolis, George and Harry of Karlstad, and Steven (Dayna) of Farmington; five grandchildren; one sister, Harriet Soderfelt of Aurora, CO; six brothers, Donald, Dwight, Dennis and Delmoure, all of Marion, MI; Dayton of Minneapolis and Douglas of Laurel, MD; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Dale and Danny.
