
Lubbock, Texas - Alton Hovden, 69, died Thursday, July 20, 2000 at Covenant Medical Center.
Memorial services were held recently at Christ Lutheran Church with Rev. Mark Paul officiating. Burial was in Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Rix Funeral Directors.
Alton Hovden was born on July 17, 1931 in Bismarck, N.D. and spent his childhood years in Thief River Falls.
On June 22, 1956, he married Nelda Holbert in Lubbock, Texas. He was a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service, retiring in June of 1997 after 36 years of service.
Alton was a member of the National Assn. of Letter Carriers and was a former elder and member of various boards at Christ Lutheran Church.
Survivors include his wife, Nelda Hovden of Lubbock, Texas; one daughter, Kim Williams of Lubbock; one son, Michael Hovden of Albuquerque, N.M.; two granddaughters; four brothers, George Hovden of Mesa, Ariz., Earl Hovden of Santa Rosa, Calif., and Charles and Joel Hovden, both of Lubbock; and two sisters, Lil Thomas of San Diego, Calif. and Mavis Aaseby of Big Lake, Texas.
