
Cambridge - William Horn, 84, died Friday, October 13, 2000 at Grandview Christian Home in Cambridge.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, October 17, at First Baptist Church in Cambridge with Rev. Jonathan Larson officiating. Special music was provided by Rev. Larson and Rob Eastlund. Casketbearers were Luke, Eli, Jeremiah, Josiah, Josh, Peter, Matthew and William Horn. Honorary casketbearers were Julianna, Stephen, Micah, Sarah and Molly Horn and Abigail Bosma. Interment was in the Cambridge Union Cemetery with Carlson-Labatte Funeral Home of Cambridge in charge of the arrangements.
William Thomas Horn was born on July 17, 1916 in Baltimore, Md., the son of William and Mazie (Snyder) Horn. He attended and graduated from Polytech High School after which he went to John Hopkins University, graduating with a degree in industrial engineering. He worked as an engineer before attending Baltimore School of the Bible and then Eastern Baptist Seminary, Philadelphia where he received a BA in Divinity.
He was married on June 24, 1944 at First Baptist Church in Cambridge. William served five churches, First Baptist of Proctorville, Ohio, 1944-47; Trade Lake Baptist of Trade Lake, Wisc., 1947-53; Bethany Baptist Church of Duluth, 1953-58; First Baptist of Willmar, 1958-73; and Berean Baptist of Burnsville, 1973-79. After his retirement, he moved to Cambridge and went on to serve interim pastorates at Bethany Baptist, Duluth; North Isanti Baptist, Cambridge; Cedar Grove Baptist, Eagan; Quamba Baptist, Quamba; South Isanti Baptist, Isanti; and First Baptist, Willmar. He also served as visitation pastor for North Isanti Baptist, Cambridge.
Survivors include his wife; four sons, Paul (Judy) of Slayton, Timothy (Sandi) of St. Paul, Daniel (Cheryl) of Thief River Falls, and David (Cecilia) of South Hamilton, Mass.; 15 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; a sister, Philena Powell of Hagarstown, Md.; and several nieces and nephews.
