Roy Horn, 86

Gonvick - Roy Horn, 86, died Monday, January 12, 1998 at First Care Hospital in Fosston.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, January 15 at the Samhold Lutheran Church in Gonvick with Reverend Eric Midthun officiating. Interment was at the Samhold Lutheran Cemetery at Gonvick. The Cease Funeral Home of Bagley was in charge of the arrangements.

Ray Horn was born on October 15, 1911 to Lars and Fredricka (Lowman) Horn in Clearwater County. He went to school in Gonvick. He was baptized and confirmed at Samhold Lutheran Church where he remained a member throughout his life.

On November 30, 1933 he was united in marriage to Jocelyn Kautcher at Clearbrook. They lived and farmed with Ray's brother Chris in rural Gonvick for two years before buying their own farm in 1935. Ray worked with cattle until 1983 when he sold his cattle and grain farmed only. Jocelyn died on January 7, 1995.

Ray enjoyed his family, percheron horses, auction sales and deer hunting.

He is survived by the two girls that he raised, Zeann Linder of Thief River Falls and Patty Milewski of Carpentersville, IL; one nephew, Bryant Morinville; numerous other nieces, nephews and cousins; and six grandchildren.

In addition to his wife Jocelyn, Ray was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Joseph, Christian, Palmer, Justice, and a brother who died at a young age who was also named Justice; and three sisters, Myrtle, Lena and Lillian.
