
Thief River Falls - Obert Homme, 76, died Monday, December 21, 1998 at Merit Care Hospital in Fargo, ND.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, December 24 at Bethany Lutheran Church in rural Thief River Falls with Reverend Robert Dahlen officiating. Grace Hammer was the organist and soloist. Casketbearers were Cindy Homme, Cheryl Lindom, Gary Homme, Greg Homme, Mishawn Shaske, Janelle Larson, Jason Homme, Sarah Homme, Matt Homme and Jon Nessen. Burial was in Bethany Lutheran Cemetery. The Green Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Obert Homme was born on May 6, 1922 in Silverton township of Pennington county, the son of Ole and Thora (Roysland) Homme. He attended the rural Banner School. Obert was baptized at Bethany Lutheran Church and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls. He spent two years in California, from 1940 until 1941, where he worked for North American Aviation.
On April 8, 1944 Obert was united in marriage to Annie Nessen at Trail. The couple worked the family farm in Silverton township. Obert also worked for Stordahl Trucking, from 1962 until his retirement in 1983.
He was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church and a former member of Teamsters Local 581 in Grand Forks, ND. He enjoyed hunting, snowmobiling and especially spending time with grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Obert is survived by four sons, Orlen (Kathy) and Alan "Bud" (Linda), both of Thief River Falls, and Robert and Steve, both of Goodridge; one stepson, Chester (Marlene) Nessen of Thief River Falls; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Gust and Thomas of Thief River Falls; one brother-in-law; four sisters-in-law; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Annie; his parents; three sisters, Ann, Thelma and Thora; three brothers, Ted, Ole and Clarence; and one grandson, Chad Homme.
