Otto Holte, 79

Grygla - Otto Holte, 79, of Grygla died on Wednesday, July 16, 1997 at Merit Care Hospital in Fargo, ND.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, July 19, 1997 at 10:30 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church in Grygla with Reverend Roberta Johnson officiating. Joy Nordby served as organist and vocalist. Casketbearers were Duane Engle, James Holte, Jerry Holte, Steven Holte, Wayne Holte and Murril Thiel. Burial was at St. Olaf Cenetery, rural Grygla. Green Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangments.

Otto Holte was born on August 12, 1917 in Eckvoll township, Marshall County, the son of Ole and Tine (Verpy) Holte. He was baptized and confirmed in the Christian faith at St. Petri Lutheran Church near Grygla. Otto attended rural country school in Eckvoll township and grew to adulthood there. In l941, Otto entered the United States Army, served during World War II and was discharged in 1945. He returned to Eckvoll township and resumed farming the family farm. On November 4, 1947 he was united in marriage to Phyllis Hahn of Strandquist in Thief River Falls. The couple raised their family and made their home on the family farm.

Otto enjoyed spending time with his family, hunting, his church and being involved in the VFW.

He is survived by his wife, Phyllis; his children, Tim (Marion) of Grygla, Marla (Chester) Yonke of Thief River Falls, Suellen (Michael) Needham of Devils Lake, ND, Terris (Diane) of Warren, Jody (Donna) of Grygla; 19 grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; five sisters, Clara Thiel, Ann Henry, Alice Will and Thelma Good, all of Bemidji, Alvina Engle of Rogers, ND; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Otto was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Jennifer; one infant grandson, Trevor; his parents; one sister, Hilda Rom; and three brothers, Henry, Carl and Martin.
