- Julie Holmquist, 16, died Wednesday, July 29, 1998 at
Hallock.
Funeral services were held on Monday, August 31 at 2 p.m. at Grace Lutheran Church at Hallock with Reverend Kenneth Losch officiating. Harriet Dokken was the organist, and special music was provided by the Red River Lutheran Church Choir. Casketbearers were Nathan Olsonawski, Brent Olsonawski, Kevin Olsonawski, Todd Klein, Scott Klein, Kevin Klein, Vance Wolf and Bill Wolf. Honorary casketbearers were the Wolfpack Varsity Volleyball team and the Kittson Central Junior Class. Interment was in Greenwood Cemetery in Hallock. The Hughes Funeral Home of Hallock was in charge of the arrangements.
Julie Ann Holmquist was born in Hallock on November 14, 1981 to James and Clarice (Wolf) Holmquist. She was baptized at Red River Lutheran Church and confirmed there on May 11, 1997.
Julie was a member of the Kittson County Central Junior Class and played on the Wolfpack Varsity Volleyball team. She was a member of the National Honor Society, served on the student council, was a past class president, worked on the annual staff and played flute in the high school band. Julie was employed this summer as a dietary aid at Kittson Memorial Health Care Center and was previously employed at Margie's Cafe.
She was an active member of Red River Lutheran Church where she sang in the church choir.
Julie is survived by her parents, Clarice Holmquist of Hallock and James Holmquist of Baudette; two sisters, Vicki (Dale) Holmquist Hanson and Tracy Holmquist, both of Thief River Falls; one niece; one nephew; her grandparents, Marlow and Dorothy Wolf of Lancaster and Norma Bengtson of Hallock; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Vern Holmquist, and stepgrandfather, Earl Bengtson.
