Thief River Falls - Vivian M. Holmes, 71, died Thursday, August 10, 2000 at Northwest Medical Center in Thief River Falls.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 12, at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls with Rev. Terry Olson officiating. Wanda Vigness was the organist, and Glenn Espe was the soloist. Casketbearers were John Rouland, Richard Holmes, Gus Holmes, Verne Sletten, Gary Sletten and Duane Sletten. Honorary casketbearers were Vivian's grandchildren, Eric Rouland, Aaron Rouland, Tiffany Holmes, Tyler Holmes, Danielle Holmes and Mayson Holmes. Interment was in Greenwood Cemetery in Thief River Falls with Green Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.
Vivian Mavis Lien was born on March 19, 1929 in Thief River Falls, the daughter of Edward A. and Emma (Teige) Lien. She grew up and attended school in Thief River Falls.
She was united in marriage to Roy Holmes at Inver Grove Heights. The couple made their home in Thief River Falls where Vivian was a homemaker and raised their children. She had been a resident of the CNC unit at Northwest Medical Center for a few years.
Survivors include one daughter, Faye (John) Rouland of Thief River Falls; three sons, Roy E. (Kim) and Gregory, both of Plummer, and Rocky (Carmen) of Greenbush; and six grandchildren.
Vivian was preceded in death by her husband; parents; and five brothers, Ernest, Elroy, Glen, Arlen and Donald. A00003B2000AG16
