Thief River Falls - Oliver Hofstad, 72, died Monday, July 26, 1999 at the CNC Unit of Northwest Medical Center in Thief River Falls.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, July 29 at Oak Park Lutheran Church, rural Oklee, with Reverend Rolf Preus officiating. Grace Hammer will provide organ and vocal music, and casketbearers will be Gail Hofstad, Rene Hofstad, Glenn Hofstad, Verner Arveson, John Eisbrenner and Korydon Chervestad. Burial will be in Clearwater Lutheran Cemetery, rural Oklee.

Visitation will be held today (Wednesday, July 28) from 4 to 9 p.m. with an 8 p.m. prayer service at Green Funeral Home in Thief River Falls. Visitation will also be held for one hour prior to services at the church.

Oliver Hofstad was born on July 30, 1926 in Deer Park township of Pennington county, the son of Gunder and Bertina (Legvold) Hofstad. He was baptized and confirmed at Clearwater Lutheran Church and attended school in rural Deer Park township school. Oliver worked for many years in farming and the construction of barns, pole sheds, houses and furniture.

He was a member of Oak Park Lutheran Church.

Oliver is survived by seven nieces and eight nephews; one sister-in-law, Mabel Hofstad; and several great nieces and great nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Tomina, Gladys and Sarah; four brothers, Osmund, Ole, Selmer and Tommy; two infant siblings, Sadie and Tommy; and two nephews.
