
Karlstad - Hardin Hodne, 86, died Tuesday, July 15, 1997 at the Karlstad Memorial Nursing Center.
Funeral servies were held on Friday, July 18 at 10 a.m. at the Hegland Lutheran Church in with Pastor LeRoy Flickinger and Rev. John A. Riveness officiating. Orpha Schaffhauser was the organist, and special music was provided by Shelly and John Walker. Casketbearers were Hardin's grandsons, Keith, Kevin, Kerry, Kris and Corey Hodne; Jason, Robbie, Ryan and Travis Anderson; Jeff and Bradley Hanson; and Dean, David and Daniel Nelson. Interment was in the Hegland Church Cemetery. Arrangements were with the Collins Funeral Home.
Hardin Leonard Hodne was born July 16, 1910 at Karlstad the son of Knute and Martha (Hageland) Hodne. He attended school and grew to manhood in the Karlstad community, and was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. On April 6, 1935, Hardin was united in marriage to Alice Torkelson at Moorhead. The couple made their home near Karlstad where Hardin farmed. He was employed by Wikstrom Telephone Company for a number of years.
He was a long-time member of Hegland Lutheran Church and served on the church council. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, trapper and baseball fan.
He is survived by his wife, Alice; two sons, Gary (Harriet) of Newfolden and Howard (Geri) of Middle River; three daughters, Donna (Dwayne) Nelson of Middle River, Ardys (Leon) Hanson of Fargo, ND and Marsha (Ron) Anderson of Newfolden; 18 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Hardin Keith in 1958; four brothers, Tom, Charles, Sam and Leonard; and two sisters, Bertha and Emma.
