Lowell Hillyer, 66
Willmar - Lowell "Guy" Hillyer, 66, died Tuesday, August 1, 2000 at Infinia of Willmar.
Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, August 4 at Peterson Brothers Funeral Home in Willmar with Father Joe Steinbeisser officiating. Interment was in Greenwood Cemetery in Thief River Falls.
Lowell Augustas Hillyer was born on February 26, 1934 in Thief River Falls, the son of Gus and Margaret (Meyers) Hillyer. He grew up in Thief River Falls and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1952. He worked on the family farm before finding employment in the restaurant, food and hospitality industry. In 1956, he moved to Willmar where he was employed at Fireside Inn, Holiday Inn and Cashwise Catering. Most recently, he worked at Kandi Entertainment Center and Simons Restaurant.
He enjoyed going to auctions, antique hunting and riding horses in his youth. He also enjoyed plants and flowers, cooking and catering and working with people in his occupation.
Gus is survived by two brothers, Irvin Hillyer of Carbondale, Ill. and James (Florence) Hillyer of Thief River Falls; one sister, Anne (Robert) Kraemer of Thief River Falls; and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and one sister. A00003B2000AG09
