
Thief River Falls - Emma Hetland, 103, died Wednesday, June 17, 1998 at the CNC Unit of Northwest Medical Center in Thief River Falls.
Funeral services were held on Friday, June 19 at 2 p.m. at Green Funeral Home in Thief River Falls with Reverend George Davis officiating. Grace Hammer provided special music. Casketbearers were Bud Berger, Clayton Mack, Pat Klemisch, Arnold Engelstad, Kermit Finstad and Marvin Wan. Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery.
Emma Holland was born on May 10, 1895 in Rosebud, MT, the daughter of Severt and Ingeborg Holland. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith in Norway and attended school in Norway and Minnesota. She worked for a time in Montana.
On August 14, 1920 Emma was united in marriage to Salemon Hetland at Thief River Falls. The couple raised their family and farmed in the Thief River Falls area. After Salemon passed away on June 12, 1989, Emma continued to make her home in the area.
She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, cooking and baking. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
Emma is survived by two daughters, Esther Fixter of Thief River Falls and Mary Lampi of Grand Rapids; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and one sister, Selma Wright of Minneapolis.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; two sisters, Ida Enger and Inga Wessman; and four brothers, Henry, Emil, Sam and Edward Holland.
