Howard Hesse, 68

Red Lake Falls -- Howard Hesse, 68, rural Red Lake Falls, died on arrival at Northwest Medical Center in Thief River Falls, on Wednesday, August 27, 1997.

Funeral services were held on Sunday, August 31, 1997, at St. John Lutheran Church in Red Lake Falls with Reverend Dean Bell officiating. Burial will be held in the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery at Wylie.

Howard James Hesse was born January 22, 1929 at Bagley, son of the late Henry and Rose (Horvick) Hesse. He moved to Wylie with his family as a young man where he attended rural school. Howard was confirmed at Wylie in the Immanuel Church in 1944. He worked the family farm before entering the U.S. Army. Following his discharge he was united in marriage to Esther Lofstrom on October 17, 1956, at Alvarado. Howard farmed and had dairy cattle, he also worked at Steiger Manufacturing near Red Lake Falls and Tourque Manufacturing in Thief River Falls. He later managed the VFW in Red Lake Falls and for the last seven years worked at Steiger Manufacturing.

Howard is survived by his wife Esther of rural Red Lake Falls; daughter Robin Bergdahl of Thief River Falls; four sons, David of East Grand Forks, Roger and wife Cindy of rural Thief River Falls, Mark and Brian both of rural Red Lake Falls; six grandchildren; brother Cyrus Hesse and wife Vi of Tucson, AZ; sisters Magdalene Rubino and husband Art of Santa Fe, NM, and Ruth McGregor of East Grand Forks; and several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents and aunt Alvina Hesse.

Military Honors were provided by the American Legion of Red Lake Falls.
