Lawrence H. Hendrickson, 86, died Sunday, November 5, 2000 at his
home in Audubon.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, November 9 at First Lutheran Church in Audubon with Rev. James Armstrong officiating. Farey Inget will be the soloist, and the pianist will be Nancy Koerner. Interment will be in First Lutheran Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. today (Wednesday, November 8) at David-Donehower Funeral Home in Detroit Lakes. Visitation will also be held for one hour prior to services at the church.
Lawrence H. Hendrickson was born on November 23, 1913 near Audubon, the son of John and Paulina (Berger) Hendrickson. He spent his school years in Michigan. Following his return to Audubon, Lawrence worked with the Civilian Conservation Corps and served with the U.S. Army Signal Corps during World War II. He spent 36 months in Europe. Following his discharge, he returned to Audubon where he worked as a butter maker for the Audubon Co-op Creamery.
On October 12, 1946, Lawrence married Mildred Ruhlemeyer at Vergas. He managed the Audubon Telephone Company until his retirement in 1978.
He served as Audubon City Clerk for many years and was the Audubon Village Santa for 21 years. He was also a member of the Audubon Fire Department, served on the Audubon School Board, was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans, sang with the D.L. Skipper Chorus and was a member of the Isaac Walton League and Audubon VFW Post 6033.
Lawrence is survived by his wife, Mildred; three sons, Clark (Anita) of Thief River Falls, Dr. Paul of Frazee and Dean of Audubon; and two grandsons. A00003B2000NV11
