Elmer Hellquist was born on July 29, 1914 at Thief River Falls, the son of Charles and Marie (Benson) Hellquist. He graduated from Lincoln High School in 1932. He managed Gamble stores in Iowa, North Dakota, Minnesota, Michigan and Wisconsin.
He married Goldie Northness at Fergus Falls. She died in 1989. In 1990, he was united in marriage to Ruth Selke at St. Germain, WI.
Elmer is survived by his wife, Ruth; one daughter, Geraldine Renner of Milwaukee, WI; two sisters, Harriet Peterson of St. Paul and Marjorie Cordry of El Cajon, CA; and one brother, Leonard Hellquist of Thief River Falls.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Goldie; parents; and one brother, Ernest.
