
Minneapolis - Ethel Helgeland, 85, of Ebenezer, Luther Hall, Minneapolis died Sunday, May 11, 1997 at Ebenezer.
Services will be held Wednesday, May 14 at 2 p.m. at the Ebenezer Chapel in Minneapolis. Visitation will be one hour before the service at the chapel. Following cremation, Ethel's cremains will be interred at Greenwood Cemetery in Thief River Falls. Gearty-Delmore Park Funeral Chapel, St. Louis Park is handling the arrangements.
Ethel was born December 11, l911 in Thief River Falls, the daughter of James and Lottie (Nelson) Patten. She lived in Thief River Falls until 1959 when she moved to Minneapolis. She worked at Kenwood Drugstore and Burch Pharmacy in Minneapolis and attended First Lutheran Church in St. Louis Park. The Loch family of Kenwood Drug and her customers and friends there were a happy part of her life. She was cared for at Ebenezer, Luther and Field Halls in Minneapolis for nearly 12 years.
Ethel was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Henry Helgeland; two sisters, Olive Moore and Margaret Severson; and two brothers, Harvey and Russell Patten.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Eileen and Glen Soderberg of St. Louis Park; a son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Helen Helgeland of Longmount, CO; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a sister, Edith Sandum of Erskine; two sisters-in -law, Alice Patten of Topeka, KS and Isabel Patten of Thief River Falls; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
