Mary Haupt, 88

Bemidji - Mary Haupt, 88, died Friday, January 26, 2001 at North Country Hospital in Bemidji.

Services were held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, January 31, at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Greenbush with Father Don Braukmann and Father Rick Lambert officiating. Special music was provided by Jeanne Novacek. Casketbearers were Jason Schoning, Robert Hageman, Mark Sang, Hubert Sang, John Sang, Francis "John" Montry, Peter Sang and Jerry Johnson. Honorary casketbearers were members of St. Ann's Sodality. Interment was in Blessed Sacrament Catholic Cemetery in Greenbush with Collins Funeral Home of Greenbush in charge of the arrangements.

Mary Rose Montry was born on August 23, 1912 at Greenbush, the daughter of Fredrick and Rosie (Botoshe) Montry. She attended school and grew up at Greenbush and was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic faith.

On March 17, 1942, she was united in marriage to Hubert E. Haupt. The couple made their home in Texas while Hubert served in the Army and before they returned to their home on their farm west of Greenbush. Mary worked as a nurse's aid at Greenbush Hospital and Nursing Home from the early 1960's until her retirement in1972. After Hubert died on June 13, 1982, she moved to Greenbush Nursing Home where she resided until 1998. She had since made her home in Bemidji.

Mary was an active member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church and served as its organist for several years. She was also a member of St. Ann's Sodality.

She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, playing cards, baking and crafts.

Mary is survived by a son, Louis (Pennyjo) of Solway; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law; a brother-in-law; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; two brothers, Fredrick Jr. and Peter; three sisters, Caroline and Margaret Montry and Josephine Fering. A00003B2000FB07
