
Greenbush - Palmer Haugtvedt, 86, died Wednesday, January 5, 2000 at the Roseau Area Hospital in Roseau.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, January 8 at Bethel Lutheran Church in Greenbush with Rev. Ernie Christensen officiating. Linda Sovde was the organist, and vocal music was provided by Vangie Carlson. Casketbearers were Dean Shafer, David Schires, Doug and Tom Hoverson, Larry Nesteby and Wayne Olson. Interment was in East Bethlehem Cemetery in Deer township of Roseau county.
Palmer Thorvald Haugtvedt was born on December 23, 1913 in Deer township of Roseau county near Greenbush, the son of Syver and Gina (Pederson) Haugtvedt. He grew up in Deer township.
On February 14, 1953 he was united in marriage to Delores Schaefer in Roseau. The couple raised their family on the farm homesteaded by Palmer's father in Deer township. He farmed and worked in logging, doing concrete finish work and carpentry. After retiring in 1975 he continued to make his home on the farm.
He served as the clerk of Deer township for over 40 years.
Palmer is survived by his wife, Delores; three sons, Paul (Vicki) of Tulsa, OK, Kevin (Tami) of St. Paul and Dave (Angela) of Peoria, AZ; two daughters, Ann (Mike) Patenaude of Dayton, OH and Kristi Haugtvedt of Strathcona; eight grandchildren; one sister, Minnie (Walter) Thomas of Thief River Falls; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four children, Martha, James, Richard and Calvin; five brothers, and eight sisters. A00003B2000JA12
