
Thief River Falls - Florence Haugen, 90, died Friday, April 9, 1999 at Oakland Park Nursing Home in Thief River Falls.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, April 13 at Westaker Free Lutheran Church in Newfolden with Reverend LeRoy Flickinger officiating. Marge Olson was the organist, and Eunice Liedberg and Con-nie Folden presented two vocal duets. Casketbearers were Newell Berggren, David Bakke, James Engelsrud, Phil Aune, David Pedersen, Kent Broten, Derwin Broten and Robert Broten. Honorary casketbearers were Nora Rokke, Myrtle Dyrud, Ruby Engelsrud, Darline Broten, Jeanette Weber, Bev Flickinger and Joan Sathre. Burial was in Westaker Cemetery of New Folden township of Marshall county. The Green Funeral Home of Thief River Falls was in charge of the arrangements.
Florence Adell Windahl was born on April 6, 1909 in Marsh Grove township of Marshall county, the daughter of Ole and Clara (Christianson) Windahl. She was baptized and confirmed at Bethesda Lutheran Church. She grew up in Marsh Grove township and attended Fairview School.
On June 29, 1946 Florence was united in marriage to Carl Haugen in Newfolden. The couple made their home in rural Newfolden and moved into Newfolden in 1968. Just recently she moved to Valley Home and for the past two weeks resided at Oakland Park.
She served as the church organist at Westaker Church for over 30 years and was a gifted piano and accordion player. One summer she traveled with her sister, Esther, and brothers, William and Arnold, and the quartet presented Christian musical concerts in a large area. She also was a caregiver for her mother for several years.
Florence is survived by 27 nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl; her parents; five sisters, Olga Broten, Palma Broten, Esther Pedersen, Ella Windahl and Dora Windahl; and five brothers, Arthur, William, Conrad, William II and Arnold. A00003B1999AR14
