
Thief River Falls - Corinne Haugen, 85, died on Sunday, November 9, 1997 at the C&NC Unit of Northwest Medical Center in Thief River Falls.
Funeral services will be held today, Wednesday, November 12 at 2 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church with Reverends John Wollenzien and Jim Rothschiller officiating. Ida Nordvall will be the organist, and Kathy Lindgren will provide vocal music. Casketbearers will be Darrell Wick, Jeff Rustvold, Bob Wick, Randy Thompson, Roger Thompson and Virgil Thompson. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery.
Visitation was held at Green Funeral Home on Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. with a 7 p.m. prayer service and one hour prior to services at the church.
Corinne Thelma Thompson was born on October 3, 1912 in Lee township near Grygla to Randolph and Sophia (Hilton) Thompson. She attended grade school in Grygla and was confirmed at the Volle church. Corinne attended Moorhead High School and then spent two years at North Star College in Warren where she graduated. She taught Bible school at different schools before attending nurse's training at St. Luke's Hospital where she received her RN degree. She then worked at the Lutheran Hospital in Bemidji until 1935. In 1936 she started working at St. Luke's Hospital in Thief River Falls.
On April 4, 1937 Corinne was united in marriage to Conrad Haugen. She continued her nursing career until after 41 years, she retired in July of 1977. Conrad died on February 26, 1968. She continued to live in Thief River Falls.
Corinne was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and the VFW Auxiliary. She spent time as a senior citizen volunteer and enjoyed spending time with family and friends, playing cards, doing crossword puzzles, knitting and crocheting.
Corinne is survived by three sons, Larry (Marie) and Glen (Ann) of Thief River Falls and Dennis (Patti) of Coon Rapids; one daughter-in-law, Joyce Walker of Hampton, VA; 16 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; one brother, Clifford (Margaret) Thompson of Edina; two sisters, Betty Wick of Robbinsdale and Mildred Wik of Thief River Falls; one sister-in-law, Ruby Huseth of Thief River Falls, one brother-in-law Chuck Rustvold of Fargo, ND; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband Conrad, she was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Richard and Ronald; one daughter in infancy; one granddaughter, Lori Haugen; one brother, Richard Thompson; and two sisters, Eleanor Thompson and Marion Rustvold.
