Thorbjorn Hanson, 82

South Junction, Manitoba - Thorbjorn "Tubby" Hanson, 82, died on Monday, January 19, 1998 at Bethesda Hospital in Steinbach, Manitoba.

Graveside services will be held in the spring. The Helgeson Funeral Chapels Co. of Roseau is in charge of the arrangements.

Thorbjorn Gustav Hanson was born on September 28, 1915 at Roseau, the son of Johan and Christine (Vistad) Hanson. He grew up and attended school in Roseau.

In 1941 he was united in marriage to Ruby Henry at Grand Forks, ND. The couple moved to Long Beach, CA where they were employed by Douglas Aircraft Co. They moved to Roseau where Tubby farmed and owned T.G. Hanson Installation.

Tubby moved to the West Coast for several years and then moved back to Roseau in the mid 1970's.

In 1979 he and Cleta Powell Morgan were united in marriage. They lived in South Junction, Manitoba were they farmed and later retired.

He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Roseau.

Tubby is survived by his wife, Cleta, now of Excelsior Springs, MO; one son, T. Dale (Thea) Hanson of Albuquerque, NM; four daughters, Joanne (Robert) Kaiser of Mt. Lake, Carol Bruinsma of Idaho Falls, ID, Ruby Jean (Richard) Scott of Sacramento, CA, and June (Robert John) Steffen of Lake Geneva, WI; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mildred (Leonard) Furuseth of Thief River Falls and Ruth Alexander of Mineola, TX and one brother, Ervin (Mary Lou) Hanson of Vancouver, WA.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Ruby in 1966; one son, Robert; two brothers, James and Arndt; and one sister, Albie.
