Orlin Hanson, 82 İİİ Goodridge - Orlin Hanson, 82, died on Sunday, August 15, 2004 at Northwest Medical Center in Thief River Falls. Funeral services will be held at Ekelund İİİVisitation will be at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, from 4 to 8 p.m., with a prayer service held at 7 p.m. on Thursday and on Friday one hour prior to the service in the church. İİİOrlin Alfred Hanson was born on August 3, 1922 in Highlanding Township, Pennington County, the son of Justin and Selma (Thoreson) Hanson. He was baptized into the Christian faith at Ekelund Lutheran Church and confirmed at the Goodridge Lutheran Church. Orlin attended country school and graduated from Goodridge High School in 1938. He then farmed with his dad Justin until 1953, when Justin died. İİİOn June 13, 1953, Orlin was united in marriage to Marcella Lucille Haugen at Oak Park Lutheran Church. The couple made their home on the Hanson Family farm in Highlanding Township, Pennington County, where they continued to farm. Marcella and Orlin won the Valley Farmer and Homemaker Award, which was given by the Red River Valley Development Association and was also awarded the Pennington County 4-H Hall of Fame for their work and support of the 4-H Program in 1988. İİİOrlin was a lifetime member of Ekelund Lutheran Church serving on the church council, and as Sexton of the Ekelund Cemetery for over 20 years. He also served on the Goodridge School Board from 1965 to 1978, served on the Board of Directors of the Goodridge Creamery and in 1965 he became office manager of the creamery, which he continued until his death. He was a board member of the Inter-County Community Council. Orlin always enjoyed working with the public. İİİOrlin was an avid supporter of Goodridge Athletics, thoroughly enjoyed watching basketball games and on January 10, 2003 he was awarded a fan appreciation award for his support of Goodridge Athletics. İİİFrom the 1940s to the 1960s he played in a dance band with Selmer Ramsey in the Selmer Ramsey Orchestra and later with the Alton Skallet Band called Twinkling Stars, he always enjoyed music throughout his years, playing the guitar, fiddle, steel guitar, piano and saxophone. He always liked attending almost any musical event and traveled to many of them. İİİMost of all Orlin enjoyed his family, especially his sons, daughter in law and grandchildren. İİİOrlin is survived by two sons: Dale (Dawn) Hanson and Dean Hanson, all of Goodridge; six grandchildren; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Violet (Milan) Eliason of Coon Rapids, Clara (Vernon) Iverson of Goodridge, Harvey (Joy) Haugen of Hibbing, Marlyn (Doloris) Haugen of Oklee and Bonnie Prigge of Gilbert; and many nieces and nephews İİİ He was preceded in death by his wife, Marcella on March 21, 2004; his parents and brother in law Charles Prigge.İİİA00003B2004AG18
