
Goodridge - Mathilda Hanson, 86, died Thursday, April 8, 1999 at Northwest Medical Center, CNC Unit, in Thief River Falls.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, April 12 at Faith Lutheran Church in Goodridge with Reverend Robert Dahlen officiating. Grace Hammer was the organist and soloist. Casketbearers were Brian Hanson, Shane Hanson, Tom Ballard, Danny Johnson, Bonita Wayne and April Ballard. Burial was in Reiner Cemetery in Reiner township of Pennington county. The Green Funeral Home of Thief River Falls was in charge of the arrangements.
Mathilda C. Holdahl was born on November 12, 1912 in Hatton, ND. She was baptized and confirmed in the Christian faith and attended school in Hatton. She stayed and worked on her uncle Herman Olson's farm.
On April 21, 1930 Mathilda was united in marriage to Kore Hanson. The couple moved to Reiner township of Pennington county in 1932. In 1950 they moved into Goodridge where they operated a restaurant from 1950 to 1952. Mathilda worked for the Goodridge School for many years and also for Green Thumb in the Goodridge community for several years.
In May of 1992 she moved to Valley Home in Thief River Falls and in December of 1998 she moved to the CNC Unit of Northwest Medical Center. She enjoyed embroidery and quilt making and loved cats.
Mathilda is survived by two sons, Edvin Hanson of Thief River Falls and Kenny (Peggy) Hanson of Cedar; two daughters, Margaret (Charles) Peterson of Renton, WA and Kathy Johnson of Thief River Falls; 21 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Kore in 1990; one daughter, Beulah in 1952; two great-granddaughters, Nicole and Shannon; two sisters, Louise and Betsy; and five brothers, Oscar, Carl, George, Art and Oliver.
