
Newfolden - Lillian Hanson, 74, died Sunday, March 29, 1998 at the Karstad Nursing Center.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 2 at 2 p.m. at the Evangelical Free Church in Newfolden with Reverend Gary Barrett officiating. Judy Hogberg will be the organist. Casketbearers will be Edward Hanson, Kenneth Augustine, Ron Kragness, Lester Johnson, Allen Swenson and Jerry Bruce. Honorary casketbearers will be all of Lillians nieces and nephews. Burial will be in Westaker Cemetery in New Folden township of Marshall county.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 1 from noon to 7 p.m with a 5 p.m. prayer service at the Green Funeral Home in Thief River Falls and for one hour prior to services on Thursday.
Lillian Helen Hanson was born on February 14, 1924 in Marsh Grove township of Marshall county, the daughter of Anton K. and Clara (Matheson) Hanson. She attended the Popple Lane School in District 39 and also attended school in Strandquist. Lillian lived in Newfolden most of her adult life. She worked at Anne's Rest Home in Middle River for about five years and then moved home to care for her mother until her death in 1971. She also spent time mowing lawns and cleaning the Hobo Haus in Newfolden.
Lillian enjoyed playing cards, watching western movies on television, crocheting and visiting with her family and friends.
Lillian is survived by one brother, Melvin (Ella) Hanson of Newfolden; four sisters, Mabel Augustine of Grafton, ND, Agnes Johnson of Argyle, Betty (William) Meader of Karlstad and Esther Matheson of Milwaukee, WI; and many nieces and nephews, great and great-great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and ten siblings, Annie Swenson, Carrie Thompson, Hilda Kleven, Helga Kleven, Alice Kalbakdalen, Karinus Hanson, Carl Hanson, Hazel Bruce, Clarence Hanson and Edwin Hanson.
