
Grand Prairie, Texas - Lester Hanson, 72, former Goodridge resident, died Thursday, March 16, 2000 at Grand Prairie, Texas.
A memorial service was held at St. Joseph's Episcopal Church in Grand Prairie on March 18. Burial will be in Lyndhurst, N.J.
A second memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, April 29, at 11 a.m. at Green Funeral Chapel in Thief River Falls with Rev. Robert Dahlen officiating. Special music will be provided by Karen and Roger Good.
Lester Kenneth Hanson was born on June 24, 1927 in Hibbing, the son of Knute and Gladys (Kolstrand) Hanson. He was baptized as an infant in the Lutheran faith in Hibbing. The family moved to Hickory township in Pennington county where Lester attended rural school and Goodridge High School. he was confirmed at Nazareth Lutheran Church at Trail.
In 1944, he entered the United States Navy, and following his honorable discharge in 1948, he moved to New Jersey where he met and married Dorothy Reiser. The couple lived in Secaucus, N.J. where he was employed by the railroad and later worked in the garment industry. Dorothy died in 1978. Lester continued to live in New Jersey until 1989 when returned to Hickory township in Pennington county.
Lester is survived by two daughters, Belinda (Mike) Withers and Mary Ann (Ken) Mathias, both of Grand Prairie, Texas; one son, Gary (Carol) Hanson of Rutherford, N.J.; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three sisters, Irene (Clyde) Bendickson of Lavina, Mont., and Mary Jane (Willie) Good and Lorraine (Ernest) Mostrom, both of Trail; one sister-in-law, Adeline Hanson of Thief River Falls; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; one son, Stephen in infancy; one brother, Clarence Hanson; and one sister, Doris Mostrom. A00003B2000AP26
