
Staples - Kenneth L. Hanson, 81, formerly of Newfolden, died Saturday, December 26, 1998 at Staples Care Center in Staples.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday December 29 at First Congregational Church with Pastors Deborah Celley and Lilja Behr officiating. Burial was in Alida Cemetery with military rites provided by American Legion Post 255.
Kenneth L. Hanson was born June 14, 1917 in Warren, the son of Hans and Helga (Svendsen) Hanson. He was raised in Newfolden and graduated from high school there. Kenneth managed the Peterson-Biddick cream station in Newfolden. The building was located on Main Street and was razed this past year. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Following his time in the military, Kenneth worked for the Red Owl Company and managed stores in Staples, Little Falls and Brainerd. Later he worked as a salesman for Nash-Finch Company. He also managed Harold's Club in Brainerd. He retired in 1981.
Kenneth was married to Doris Michaelis on June 6, 1953 in Brainerd.
He was a member of First Congregational Church, Golden K, American Legion Post 255, Elks Lodge and Moose Lodge.
Kenneth is survived by his wife, Doris; one daughter, Karmie Tenny of St. Cloud; and one granddaughter. Area survivors include his cousins, Harlen Melo, Morris Hansen and Ardelle Hansen, all of Newfolden, and Derald Svendsen and Lester Svendsen, both of Argyle.
