
Plummer - Clarence Hanson, 66, died Sunday, July 19, 1998 at his home in Plummer.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 24 at 2 p.m. at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Plummer with Reverend Clarence Johnson officiating. Linda Olson will provide the special music. Casketbearers will be Dan Newland, Norm Newland Jr., Brian Laymon, Mike Knoll, David Haugen, Eric Knoll, Mark Flaten and Greg Knoll. Burial will be in Clearwater Cemetery in Wyandotte township of Pennington county.
Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. on Thursday with a 7 p.m. prayer service at the Green Funeral Home and for one hour prior to services at the church on Friday.
Clarence Howard Hanson was born on October 18, 1931 in Hickory township of Pennington county, the daughter of Henry and Thea (Vettleson) Hanson. He was baptized at Nazareth Lutheran Church in Hickory township. In 1944 the family moved to the Plummer area. Clarence was confirmed at Clearwater Lutheran Church and attended rural school, District #125.
From 1944 until 1970 Clarence farmed in Wyandotte township and cared for his father for many years. He owned and operated the Hanson Restaurant in Plummer with his brother and sister-in-law, Art and Alma Hanson, and later with his sister, Ardith, retiring in 1995. Clarence continued to live in Plummer with his brother Harold.
He was a former member of Clearwater Lutheran Church and was now attending Immanuel Lutheran Church in Plummer. He was a member of Eagle's Aerie in Thief River Falls.
Clarence is survived by three sisters, Ann Newland of Thief River Falls and Betty (Franklin) Knoll and JoAnn (Maynard) Laymon, both of Warren; two brothers, Harold Hanson and Arthur (Alma) Hanson, both of Plummer; one brother-in-law; special nephew, Robert (Olivia) Newland of Thief River Falls; and several other nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, grand-nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Ardith and Alice; one nephew, Bruce Laymon; one sister-in-law; and one brother-in-law.
