Anne Hansen, 96

Thief River Falls - Anne Hansen, 96, died Wednesday, April 16, 1997, at Oakland Park Nursing Home in Thief River Falls.

Anne Nelson was born on November 13, 1900, in Pelan, the daughter of Rasmi and Emma (Akerbloom) Nelson. She attended school in Strandquist and graduated from high school there.

She was united in marriage to William Hansen on August 30, 1919, in Thief River Falls. The couple farmed near Viking for a few years prior to moving to Strandquist. There, they operated Bill's Cafe and later the Hartz Grocery Store. After a number of years they retired in Strandquist.

Following William's death in 1970, Anne lived in Newfolden and in 1980 moved to Thief River Falls where she has since resided.

She enjoyed working at their family store and cafe in Strandquist and also crocheting.

Anne was known for being an excellent cook and donuts were her specialty. She was a member of Bethesda Lutheran Church in Strandquist and Zion Lutheran church in Thief River Falls.

She is survived by her children, Gwen Olson and her husband Robert "Bob", and Harding Hansen both from Sarasota, FL; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sisters, Ella Thun of Thief River Falls, and Florence Myhrer and her husband "Kori" of Thief River Falls; brother Merrill Nelson and his wife Amy of Pasadena, CA.

She was preceded in death by her husband; daughter Bonnie; her parents; two brothers Alvin and Clarence; and one sister Minnie.

The family would like memorials sent to Zion Lutheran Church for Sunday Cable Broadcast or Bethesda Lutheran Church in Strandquist.
