Ronnie Hamness, 47

Strathcona - Ronnie Hamness, 47, died Tuesday, November 17, 1998 at his home in Strathcona.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, November 20 at Grace Evangelical Church in Strathcona with Pastor Robert Ludwig officiating. Pat Ludwig was the organist, and vocalists were Jim Gjovik, Naomi Zak, Kay Prothero and Chris Hamness. Pastor Ludwig was the piano accompanist. Casketbearers were Wayne Hanson, Kurt Hanson, Mark Ryden, Gale Hanson, Curtis Wolff and Greg Hamness. Honorary casketbearers were Noel Svegdahl, Denny Dvergsten, Alvin Bertilrud, Dale Hamness, Larry Nesteby, Wayne Stavenes and other friends and relatives. Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery in Strathcona. The Gieseke Funeral Chapel was in charge of the arrangements.

Ronnie Gene Hamness was born on July 27, 1951 in Greenbush, the son of Danferd and Velma (Haugtvedt) Hamness. He grew up in Strathcona where he attended grade school. Ronnie graduated from Greenbush High School in 1969. He worked at Arctic Enterprises in Thief River Falls for 11 years.

On May 4, 1974 he was united in marriage to Noreen Svegdahl at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, rural Greenbush. In 1980 Ronnie started his dairy and grain farm at Strathcona. He also owned and operated R.H. Septic Tank Pumping.

Ronnie was a member of Grace Evangelical Church and the Roseau Area Hospital and Homes board. He served as treasurer of the Strathcona Community Club. Formerly, he was a member of the Land O'Lakes board and was a Huntley township board supervisor.

He enjoyed hunting, snowmobiling, motorcycles, four-wheelers and visiting with people.

Ronnie is survived by his wife, Noreen of Strathcona; one son, Rory of Strathcona; and one daughter, Kjerstie (Jason) Bertilrud of Greenbush.

He was preceded in death by his parents in 1995.
