
Thompson, ND - Richard A. "Dick" Halvorson, 60, died Saturday, March 4, 2000 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, March 7 at United Lutheran Church in Grand Forks. Interment was in the Thompson Cemetery in Thompson with the Amundson Funeral Home of Grand Forks in charge of the arrangements.
Richard was born on March 18, 1939 in Thief River Falls, the son of Morris and Hannah (Hellquist) Halvorson. He attended schools in Viking and Newfolden, graduating in 1957. He served in the U.S. Army from February of 1961 until November of 1962 and in the Army National Guard from November of 1962 until January of 1967.
On August 28, 1964, he married Darlene Faye Anderson at Goodridge. The couple lived at Middle River, Viking and Drayton, ND where he managed grain elevators. In 1979, they moved to Thompson, ND, and he was employed by the Harvest State Cooperatives regional office in Grand Forks for 20 years. He retired on February 1, 2000.
Richard is survived by his wife, Darlene of Thompson, ND; three daughters, Doreen (Brent) Grunewald of Ada, Darcy (Larry) Morris of Thompson, ND and Danette (Chris) Coulter of East Grand Forks; five grandchildren; two sisters, Ann (Sheldon) LeMier of Sumner, WA and Carol Legg of Henderson; six brothers, James (Dorothy) Halvorson of Sumner, WA, Roy (Evelyn) Halvorson of Waterloo, IA, Rodney (Yvonne) Halvorson of Ogden, UT, Gene (RaeAnn) Halvorson of Viking, Lowell (Charlotte) Halvorson of Barnesville and Harlan (Carol) Halvorson of Thief River Falls; and many nieces, nephews and in-laws.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Kenneth and Charles. A00003B2000MR08
