Stuart Halldin, 57

McIntosh - Stuart Halldin, 57, died Wednesday, August 16, 2000 at First Care Medical Hospital in Fosston.

Services were held at 7 p.m. on Saturday, August 19, at Green Funeral Home Chapel with Father Dennis Wieland officiating. Special music was provided by Michael Melby.

Stuart Halldin was born on October 20, 1942 in Escanaba, Mich., the son of Kenneth and Beth (McLeod) Halldin. He was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls. He attended school in Thief River Falls, graduating from Lincoln High School in 1961. Following high school, he entered the United States Marine Corps.

Stuart worked at may jobs mostly in sales during his lifetime in Minneapolis/St. Paul; Germany; Des Moines, Iowa; and Hawaii. Most recently, he had worked as a conductor/brakeman for Chicago Northwestern Railroad. In 1986, he retired due to ill health. In 1996, he returned to the Thief River Falls area. Since 1997, he had resided at McIntosh Manor. Stuart was married several times.

Survivors include seven children, Dana Martin of Minneapolis/St. Paul, Nita (Mike) Berry of White Bear Lake, Tim (Kim) Halldin of Mankato, Eric Halldin of South Dakota, and Gretchen Halldin Tinker, Jeremiah Halldin Tinker and Sarah Halldin Tinker, all of Des Moines, Iowa; four grandchildren; his father, Kenneth Halldin of Thief River Falls; one sister, Patricia (Darrel) Nelson; one niece and two nephews.

Stuart was preceded in death by his mother, Beth Halldin; and his grandparents, Ruth and Otto Halldin, Ann and Victor McLeod and Evangeline McLeod. A00003B2000AG23
