
Red Lake Falls - George Hagl, 87, died Monday, March 30, 1998 at Riverview Hospital in Crookston.
Mass of Christian burial was held on Friday, April 3 at 2 p.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Red Lake Falls with Father Gary LaMoine officiating. Kathie Knott was the organist, and special music was provided by St. Joseph's Church Choir. Casketbearers were Ed Hagl, Don Vatthauer, Gerald Malwitz, Kenny Hagl, Joe DeHaan and David Vatthauer. Honorary casketbearers were all of George's grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Burial was in the church cemetery. The Petterson Funeral Home of Red Lake Falls was in charge of the arrangements.
George Hagl was born on December 30, 1910 near Red Lake Falls, the son of Frank and Theresa (Grimm) Hagl. He was raised and attended school near Red Lake Falls. On December 29, 1942 he was united in marriage to Amelia Desautel. George worked at the Towmill in Red Lake Falls until it closed and then worked in Red Lake Falls at the Silo Co. until retiring in the mid-60's. Amelia died on June 26, 1989.
He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church.
George is survived by two daughters, Donna (Frank) Presnell of Red Lake Falls and Beverly Wander of Wauban; one son, Larry Hagl of Red Lake Falls; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law; one brother-in-law; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four sisters, Mary Loeffler, Laura Vatthauer, Helen Febro and Clara Hagl; and four brothers, Louis Hagl, Frank Hagl, Leo Hagl and Paul Hagl.
