
Thief River Falls - Cliff Habedank, 56, died at his home on Saturday, October 11, 1997.
Funeral services will be held today, Wednesday, October 15 at 10:30 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church with Reverend John Wallenzien officiating. Ida Nordvall will be the organist, and Lynne Webster will provide vocal music. Casketbearers will be Anthony Kozojed, Marvin Olson, Steven Olson, Mike Spears, Dwight Tangquist and Bill Weigelt. Honorary casketbearers will be Cliff's fellow workers at the municipal store and city employees. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
Visitation was held Tuesday from 3 to 8 p.m. at Green Funeral Home with a prayer service at 7 p.m. and at the church for one hour prior to services. The Green Funeral Home of Thief River Falls was in charge of the arrangements.
Clifford William Habedank was born on June 2, 1941 in Thief River Falls to Charley W. and Alice (Hruby) Habedank. He was baptized November 4, 1941 and later confirmed that faith on April 3, 1955. The family lived in the Mavie community where Cliff began his schooling. The family moved to Thief River Falls where he completed his education at Lincoln High School in 1959.
On September 12, 1959 he was united in marriage to Judith "Judi" Helgeland in Thief River Falls. The couple has since lived in the Thief River Falls community. Since the age of 12, Cliff was employed as a carry-out by Piggly Wiggly, Dwight's Hartz and Ev's Hartz. When it closed, he was a bookkeeper at Nelson Implement Company. In 1993 he began working at the city municipal store where he was employed until the time of his death.
He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. A generous man, he had a special love for his family.
Cliff is survived by his wife, Judi; his three children, Jodi Stittsworth of Grand Forks, ND, Greg (Corinne) Habedank of Thief River Falls, and Kristi (Curt) Johnson of Devils Lake, ND; three grandchildren; two brothers, Kenneth (Yvonne) Habedank of Thief River Falls and Gary (Sharon) Habedank of Spring Lake Park; eight sisters, Dorothy (Arthur) McLaughlin of Bemidji, Viola Anderson of Argyle, Pearl (Laverne) Adamson of Thief River Falls, Goldie (Dennis) Jones of Flint, MI, Freda Hemmesch (Lawrence) of Thief River Falls, Arvilla (Henry) Hastad of Thief River Falls, Phyllis Wilhelm of Thief River Falls and Claudia (Harry) Cole of Wauwatosa, WI; and numerous nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; and brother-in-law Lester Anderson.
