Red Lake Falls - Emma Gustafson, 90, formerly of Oklee, died Wednesday, September 27, 2000 at Hillcrest Nursing Home in Red Lake Falls. Emma Gustafson Obit - Color

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 30, at Ebenezer Lutheran Church, rural Oklee, with Rev. Robert Dahlen officiating. Geleen Lundeen was the organist. Casketbearers were Jim Ness, Orville Ness, Richard Ness, Dale Ness, Edwin Olson and Milan Olson. Burial was in Ebenezer Cemetery in Mayfield township of Pennington county with Green Funeral Home of Thief River Falls in charge of the arrangements.

Emma Olson was born on May 12, 1910 in Hickory township of Pennington county, the daughter of John and Gunhild (Tveitbakk) Olson. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and attended school in Hickory township.

On August 4, 1934, she was united in marriage to Arthur Gustafson in Hickory township. The couple made their home in Deer Park township where they farmed and raised their family. In May of 1995, they moved to Thief River falls. Art died on December 18, 1995. In September of 1997, Emma moved to Hillcrest Nursing Home in Red Lake Falls.

She was a member of Ebenezer Lutheran Church and was active in its Ladies Aid.

Emma is survived by a son, John (Marjorie) of Winona; a daughter, Helen (Leonard) LaCoursiere of West Allis, Wisc.; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and four sisters-in-law.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; eight brothers, Olaf, Ole, Halvor, Tom, Henry, Johnnie, Ben and Arne Olson; and a sister, Annie Ness.
