Roseau- Violet Gust, 80, died Thursday, January 20, 2000 at the Roseau Area Hospital in Roseau.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Monday, January 24 at Faith Lutheran Church in Badger with Rev. Louis Hermansen and Rev. Daniel Knock officiating. Patty Hanson was the organist, and vocal music was provided by DelRay Beito and Audrey Burda. Casketbearers were Howard Beito, Kevin Beito, James Beito, Todd Beito, Chad Beito, Clark Majer and Shon Beito. Honorary casketbearers were all of Violet's grandchildren, great-grandchildren and step-grandchildren. Interment was in First Lutheran Cemetery in Middle River. The Collins Funeral Home of Greenbush was in charge of the arrangements.
Violet Mae Keller was born on May 6, 1919 at Thief River Falls, the daughter of Louis Sr. and Tillie (Kruta) Keller. As a child she moved with her family to the Thief Lake community near Middle River where she attended school and grew up. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith.
On July 24, 1937 she was united in marriage to Lennie E. Beito at Middle River. The couple farmed near Middle River. Lennie died on June 26, 1972, and Violet made her home near Strathcona.
On March 19, 1977 she married Clement Gust at Greenbush, and they made their home in the Greenbush community. Clement died on June 7, 1998. Violet had since resided at the Eventide Home in Roseau.
Violet had been employed at Polaris Industries at Roseau and was currently a member of Faith Lutheran Church near Badger.
Survivors include one daughter, Caroline (Clair) Majer of Roseau; six sons, Ernest (Doris) of Motley, Louis (Alice) of Strathcona, Donald (Karen) of Wannaska, Harold (Sandra) and Kean (Lori), both of Roseau, and Eugene (Cindy) of Strathcona; 23 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; one stepdaughter, Kathryn (Bert) Overland of Spokane; one stepson, Larry (Priscilla) Gust of Badger; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her first and second husbands; parents; daughter-in-law, Donna; brother, Louis; stepson, Leo; and one step great-grandson.
