
Leola Gunderson, 84
Thief River Falls - Leola Gunderson, 84, died Thursday, June 15, 2000 at Northwest Medical Center in Thief River Falls.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, June 19, at Ebenezer Lutheran Church, rural Oklee, with Rev. Galen Sylvester officiating. Gelene Lundeen was the organist, and the soloist was Rev. Terri Cuppett. Casketbearers were Eric Gunderson, Ron Maas, Steve Maas, Mike Maas, Greg Bourque and Ken Bourque. Burial was in Ebenezer Lutheran Cemetery. The Green Funeral Home of Thief River Falls was in charge of the arrangements.
Leola Jensen was born on August 15, 1915 in Mayfield township of Pennington county, the daughter of Soren C. and Carrie (Legvold) Jensen. She was baptized on October 3, 1915 and confirmed on July 7, 1929 at Ebenezer Lutheran Church. She grew up and attended school in rural Oklee.
On June 18, 1936, Leola was united in marriage to Gunder Gunderson. The couple lived and farmed north of Oklee. In 1988, Leola moved to Oak Lodge in Thief River Falls where she resided until March of 2000 when she moved to Oakland Park Nursing Home in Thief River Falls.
She was a life-long member of Ebenezer Lutheran Church and was active in its Ladies Aid. She enjoyed spending time with her family.
Leola is survived by one son, Shermen (Pilar) Gunderson; one daughter, Carol (Jerry) Maas; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Clara Johnson and Selma Haun.
She was preceded in death by her husband; one daughter, Gloria; parents; and two, brothers, Osmond and Leonel. A00003B2000JN21
