
New Hope - Arnold Gunderson, 91, New Hope, died Tuesday, April 8, 1997, at Northridge Care Center in New Hope.
Funeral services were held April 12, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Thief River Falls.
Arnold LeRoy Gunderson was born November 26, 1905, in Clay County, to the late Olaus and Gunhild (Svenkeson) Gunderson. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Faith. He moved with his family to rural Thief River Falls and attended school and grew to adulthood on the family farm. He was united in marriage to Anne Stene in Thief River Falls. The couple farmed and raised their family in Rocksbury township, Pennington County. In the late 1950s Arnold started working for Land O'Lakes and later also worked for Bridgeman's. In 1996, Arnold moved to Northridge Care Center in New Hope, and has resided there since.
He enjoyed farming, gardening, dancing, playing horseshoe, and spending time with his family and friends.
He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls and the Sons of Norway.
He is survived by three daughters, Marilyn Hanson and her husband Elwood of Becida, Nancy Falls and her husband Thomas of Anoka, and Sandi Stordahl and her husband Robert of Austin, TX; two sons, Wayne Gunderson and his wife Arlene of Bothell, WA, and David Gunderson and his wife Diane of Minnetonka, 11 grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; one brother, Gordon Gunderson of Moorhead; and one sister, Goldie Halvorson of Seattle, WA.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Anne; his parents, Gunhild and Olaus; one grandson, Shawn Hanson; two brothers, Bernhard and Manville; and four sisters, Amy Gunderson, Esther Gunderson, Synneva Engelstad, and Gina Gunderson.
