George Groslie, 57

Thief River Falls - George Groslie, 57, died Wednesday, June 11, l997 at the Veterans Hospital in Fargo, ND after a lengthy illness with cancer.

Funeral services were held Saturday, June 14 at 10:30 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church with Reverend Dennis Raymond officiating. Ida Nordvall was the organist and Diane Johnson, the soloist. Casketbearers were Roger Anderson, Bob Anderson, Larry Haugen, Dave Klopp, John Trickle, Tony Brennan and Ronald Ebbinghausen. Military honors were by the V.F.W. and American Legion of Thief River Falls. Burial was at Greenwood Cemetery. Green Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

George Charles Groslie was born May 30, l940 in Thief River Falls the son of LeRoy and Doris (Langer) Groslie. He was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church and attended school in Thief River Falls. In l959, George enlisted in the United States Navy and spent one year at the Navy base in Adak, Alaska. He then served on the aircraft carrier, Bon Homme Richard, in the South China Sea off Vietnam. He then served on the USS Bennington until being discharged in l963. After returning from the Navy, he worked at the Eagles and VF.W. in Thief River Falls. George also attended the Vocational School in Thief River Falls earning a degree in architectural drafting. George was a member of the Cooties, American Legion and V.F.W.

He is survived by his mother, Doris; Two brothers, Lyle (Gaileen) and Steve Groslie of Thief River Falls; one sister, Julie (Ron) Madison of Brainerd; and several nieces and nephews.

George was preceded in death by his father; one brother, Larry; and his grandparents.
