Angeline Owen Gronseth, 59

Chanhassen - Angeline "Angie" Gronseth, 59, died Tuesday, March 23, 1999 after a courageous battle with cancer.
A memorial service was held on Saturday, March 27 at Colonial Church in Edina.
Angeline E. Owen was born on November 5, 1939 in Thief River Falls, the daughter of Morris and Lydia Owen.
In May of 1975 Angie married Phil Gronseth. Angie began a banking career which spanned more than 30 years as a teller at a bank in her hometown of Thief River Falls. She moved to the Twin Cities and contined her career at Park Plaza Bank in St. Louis Park which became Western State Bank during the early 1970's. She was appointed branch manager of its first satellite bank in Minnetonka in the early 1980's.
Angie was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in January of 1986, the same year that her father died in May and her only child, Brian, was killed in an oil field accident in Texas in June. Angie was determined to lead as normal a life as possible by continuing her managerial position while undergoing chemotherapy.
Angie joined Colonial Church in Edina in 1975 where she was a member of the counseling board. She was also an active member of the Can Surmount program at the Methodist Hospital. She was interviewed numerous times on television about how she was able to cope with cancer while maintaining an active business and social life.
Angie was an avid golfer and especially enjoyed cross-stitching.
Survivors include her husband, Phil; his children, Phil (Holly), Joyce (Larry), Carolyn (Michael), and Renee (Dave); six grandchildren; her mother, Lydia Owen of Thief River Falls; five sisters, Marlene (Dallas) Pederson, Betty Laufman, Judy Owen, Janice (Danny) Moore, and Lorray (Larry) Tupy; and one sister-in-law.
Angie was preceded in death by her father, Morris Owen; her son, Brian; and her brother, Morris Owen Jr. A00003B1999MR31
