Janie Greear, 65

Roseau - Janie Greear, 65, died Thursday, September 4, 1997 at the Roseau Area Hospital.

Funeral services will be held today, Wednesday, September 10, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Roseau with Father Ray Palcisko and Father Tim Noah officiating. Interment will be at St. Phillip's Catholic Cemetery in Falun. The Helgeson Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Janie Tobin was born February 21, 1932 in rural Thief River Falls, the daughter of Lucy (Rybakowski) and Jim Tobin. She moved to Roseau County in 1933, and in 1938 she moved to the Skime area. She moved to Malung in 1952. In 1965 she moved to Rochester where she was a research patient for Wilson's disease. She made a full recovery and was able to lead an active life.

On June 11, 1966 Janie was united in marriage to Roland Greear at Falun. The couple lived in Rochester until 1981 when they moved to Roseau.

Janie was a member of the Sacred Heart and Hosptial Auxiliaries and president of the Christian Harmony Group at Rochester. She loved to write poetry.

Janie is survived by her husband, Roland Greear of Roseau; four sisters, Helen (Lloyd) Holcomb of Warroad, Doris Nash of Mindon, NV, Joyce Aasen of Malung and Elizabeth Jacobson of Grafton, ND; one brother, James Tobin Jr. of Roseau; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Louis and Donald Tobin; and one sister, Alice Tobin.
