Paul Grandbois, 84

Thief River Falls - Paul Grandbois, 84, died Saturday, May 9, 1998 at the CNC Unit of Northwest Medical Center in Thief River Falls.

Mass of Christian burial will be held today (Wednesday, May 13) at 2 p.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Red Lake Falls with Father Gary LaMoine officiating. Kathie Knott will be the organist, and Dorinda Grandbois will be the soloist. Special music will also be provided by St. Joseph's Church Choir. Casketbearers will be Devon Grandbois, Tom Grandbois, Vernon Page, Ray Bruneau, Ken Grundhaus and Gary Bruneau. Honorary casketbearers will be past and present Browns Creek township board members. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery.

Visitation was held on Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. with a 7 p.m. prayer service at the Petterson Funeral Home in Red Lake Falls and also for one hour prior to services at the church.

Paul George Grandbois was born on June 30, 1913 in Browns Creek township of Red Lake county, the son of Felix and Elizabeth (Gedde) Grandbois. He was raised and attended school in Browns Creek township.

On June 22, 1943 he was united in marriage to Harriet Hall at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Brooks. The couple lived and farmed in Browns Creek township until 1997 when they moved to Thief River Falls.

Paul was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church. He served for 28 years as the chairman of the Browns Creek township board and was also a member of the Red Lake Falls Rural Fire Association.

Survivors include his wife Harriet Grandbois of Thief River Falls; two daughters, Elizabeth (James) Spurrier of Burnsville and Patricia (Ron) Woods of Portage, PA; one son, Richard (Kathryn) Grandbois of St. Hilaire; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three sisters, Esther Page of Red Lake Falls, Lucy (Leonard) Bruneau of Minnetonka and Mary Grundhaus of Thief River Falls; one brother, Ralph (Albina) Grandbois of Cudahy, WI; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents; one infant son, Philip; one sister, Alice Roy; and one brother, James Grandbois.
