Josephine Gostanczik, 80

Strandquist - Josephine Gostanczik, 80, died Thursday, April 22, 1999 at the Karlstad Healthcare Center in Karlstad.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. on Monday, April 26 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in rural Argyle. Interment was in St. John's Cemetery, rural Argyle. The Quanrud-DuBore Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Josephine Veronica Bukowski was born on August 8, 1918 in Wanger township of Marshall county, the daughter of Frank and Sophie (Miedzianowski) Bukowski. She was baptized and confirmed at the Assumption Catholic Church in Florian. She attended school in rural Stephen. Josephine worked in Connecticut, Minneapolis and rural Argyle.

On June 17, 1952 she was united in marriage to John Gostanczik at Middle River, and the couple made their home and farmed in Alma township of Marshall county. John died on May 4, 1990. Josephine resided with her sister, Mary Ann Lubarski, in rural Strandquist from October of 1990 until October of 1997 when she moved to the Karlstad Healthcare Center.

She enjoyed crocheting and gardening.

Josephine is survived by two sisters, Clara (Sylvester) Kasprowicz of Warren and Mary Ann Lubarski of Strandquist; one sister-in-law; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers and three sisters.
