Goldesberry, 91Thief River Falls - Naom Goldesberry, 91, died Wednesday, February 9 at the CNC unit of Northwest Medical Center in Thief River Falls.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, February 12 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls with Rev. John Wollenzien officiating. Dee Wollenzien was the organist, and Joe Drevlow and Jordan Goldesberry were the soloists. Casketbearers were Jordan Goldesberry, Jared Goldesberry, Al Riedinger, Alvin French, Jim Rippetoe, Irvin Schmitke, Harold Petterson and Joe Drevlow.
A second service was held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, February 12 at Dovre Lutheran Church in Osnabrock, ND with Sandra Larson officiating. Sally Backes was the organist. Burial was in East Dovre Cemetery in Osnabrock. The Green Funeral Home of Thief River Falls was in charge of the arrangements.
Naom Frances French was born on August 22, 1908 in Alma township of Cavalier county in North Dakota, the daughter of Jasper and Anna (Wedwick) French. She grew up in Osnabrock, ND were she was baptized and confirmed in the Christian faith and attended school, graduating in 1927. She also attended Minot State Teachers College for one year and taught in rural North Dakota schools.
Naom was united in marriage to William Goldesberry in 1938 at Sidney, MT. The couple lived in Wyoming for a short time before moving to Osnabrock, ND. In 1944, she began working for the Osnabrock Post Office where she served as Postmaster for 35 years. Naom moved to Thief River Falls in 1983.
She was a member of Dovre Lutheran Church where she was active in women's activities and served as Sunday school superintendent. She was also a charter member of the American Legion Auxiliary and was a member for 75 years.
Naom is survived by one son, James (Olive) Goldesberry of Thief River Falls; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; six brothers, Webster, James, Leonard, Donald and twins, Ernest and Chester; and one sister Eva Boe. A00003B2000FB16
