Dale Giese, 73

East Grand Forks -- Dale Giese, 73, died Monday, April 21, 1997, at Northwest Medical Center in Thief River Falls. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery, East Grand Forks, later in the spring.

Dale Giese was born on March 11, 1924 in Grand Forks, ND, the son of Louis and Ella (Jackson) Giese. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and attended rural school in District 30. He continued his education at the Northwest School of Agriculture in Crookston. On November 18, 1944, he was united in marriage to Maureen Hjelmeland in Crookston. The couple moved to Keystone township, Polk county, where they farmed and raised their family. In the early 1980s, the couple moved to East Grand Forks, where Dale has since resided.

Dale enjoyed reading, listening to all types of music, spending time with family and friends, spending time at the lake. He was a member of First Lutheran Church, East Grand Forks, Keystone township board member, and Farmers Union Oil board member.

He is survived by his four children, Meralee Giese, Grand Forks, John Giese and his wife Connie, East Grand Forks, Peter Giese and his wife Patti, Dayton, Janice Ahmann and her husband Randy, Spokane, WA; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sister Ruth Adair Lau, Moorhead; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife Maureen in 1989, parents, brothers, Donald, and Myles, and one sister, Marlys.
