
Edel Gast, 89
Argyle - Edel Gast, 89, died Monday, February 28, 2000 at the Good Samaritan Center in Warren.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Friday, March 3 at Our Savior's Free Lutheran Church in Argyle with Rev. Kenneth Thoreson and Rev. Jim Rasmussen officiating. Tammy Sundby was the organist, and the soloist was Cheryl Aakre. Casketbearers were Rob Svendsen, Gordy Thureen, Steve Gast, Philip Dyrud, Tom Gast and Harlan Dyrud. Interment was in Woodlawn Cemetery in Argyle. The Quanrud-DuBore Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Edel Dyrud was born on January 7, 1911 at rural Viking, the daughter of Peter and Marie (Hanson) Dyrud. She was raised in Newfolden and graduated from Newfolden High School. She also attended and graduated from the Deaconess Hospital and Nursing School in Grand Forks, ND.
On November 18, 1937, she was united in marriage to Clarence Gast in Newfolden. The couple made their home in Argyle. Clarence died on June 27, 1976.
Edel was very active at Our Savior's Lutheran Church where she was in the women's group, Ladies Aid and Bible study. She was also a Sunday school teacher for many years.
Survivors include one son, Lance Gast of Jacksonville, FL; one daughter, Estelle Lease of Minneapolis; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and one brother, Amos Dyrud of Minneapolis.
Edel was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three brothers and three sisters. A00003B2000MR08
