Robert Frissell, 82

Fargo, N.D. - Robert Nelson Frissell, 82, died Sunday, September 10, 2000 at Fargo VA Medical Center.

Frisell obitA memorial service was held on Thursday, September 14, at 1 p.m. at First United Methodist Church in Fargo. Hanson-Runsvold Funeral Home of Fargo was in charge of the arrangements.

Robert Nelson Frissell was born on February 2, 1918 in Thief River Falls, the son of George H. and Anna (Paulson) Frissell. He grew up in Thief River Falls and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1936. He worked for Sioux Line Railroad as a warehouse man, clerk and brakeman. Robert graduated from the University of North Dakota with a bachelor of science degree in commerce. He served in the U.S. Air Force and was stationed in Lyon, France in the European theatre during World War II. He worked in military intelligence strategic command and achieved the rank of lieutenant colonel. He was assigned to military intelligence in the 409th Bomber Division during the Battle of the Bulge.

Following his discharge, Robert married Sara Lou Watt at the home of his parents in Thief River Falls on May 20, 1950. The couple later moved to Minneapolis where he worked for Miles Lumber Co. and as a real estate agent for Texaco. The couple then moved to Fargo, N.D. where Robert worked as an assistant assessor for the City of Fargo. He was a partner with Harry Arneson Jr. in a Fargo appraisal company and found both Frissell Appraisal, Inc., known as Appraisal Services, Inc., and Frissell Realty Co., now Century 21 Gold Key. He was a general partner for the West Gate addition and developed the Rheault addition in Fargo.

He was a member of the American Institute of Real Estate Appraisers, Society of Real Estate Appraisers, East Gate Masonic Lodge, York Rite, El Zagal Shrine of Fargo, Elks Club, American Legion, VFW and Sigma Chi Fraternity.

Robert is survived by his wife; one son, Charles E. H. of Fargo and Miami, Fla.; one daughter Anna M. (Jay Gibson) Frissell of West Fargo; one brother, Charles (Elvera) Frissell of Fargo; and one grandson.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters.
