
Strandquist - Orville Foss, 74, died Thursday, October 2, 1997 at his home in Strandquist.
Funeral services were held Monday, October 6 at 2 p.m. at the Gieseke Funeral Chapel in Greenbush with Pastor Douglas Norquist officiating. Special music was provided by Pastor Douglas and Shirley Norquist. Casketbearers were Douglas Hendrickson, DeWayne Kostrzewski, Jeff Kostrzewski, Kenny Pawlowski, Bob Foss, Duane Foss and Arnie Foss. Burial was at East Bethlehem Cemetery, rural Strathcona.
Orville Elmer Foss was born June 11, 1923 in Deer township of Roseau County between Greenbush and Strathcona, the son of Anton O. and Amanda (Qualley) Foss. He grew up in Deer township and attended Govick School #60. On April 20, 1958 he was united in marriage to Jessie Howard at St. Cloud. She died on November 16, 1983. Orville worked for the Franklin Company in St. Cloud for many years. He also worked in the woods for several years. He lived near Strathcona before moving to Strandquist 13 years ago.
Orville is survived by his special friend, Evelyn Kline of Strandquist; seven step children, Lucille (Byron) Rock of Mahtomedi, Judith (Russell) Grandstrand of Strandquist, Rosalyn (Lloyd) Schuller of St. Cloud, Dolly Clune of Sauk Rapids, Bonnie (Jim) Mrozek of Sauk Rapids, Linda Howard of Naytahwaush and James (Debbie) Howard of Minneapolis; one sister, Lila (Tony) Ignaszewski of Argyle; one brother, Alton (Donna) Foss of Foley; several step grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; and three brothers, Alvin, Raymond and Arlo.
