Harold Ford, 74

Red Lake Falls - Harold Ford, 74, died on Saturday, May 1, 1999 at Riverview Hospital in Crookston after suffering a heart attack.

Services were held on Tuesday, May 4 at 6:30 p.m. at Petterson Funeral Home in Red Lake Falls with Reverend Curtis Brooks officiating. Casketbearers were Bryan Ford, Guy Ford, Bill Potucek, Jim Potucek, Mark LaCrosse and Harry Meyer. Burial was in Oak Grove Cemetery in Red Lake Falls.

Harold "Harry" Ford was born on June 18, 1924 in Red Lake Falls, the son of Martin and Mary (Pahlen) Ford. At the age of 17-1/2 he enlisted in the U.S. Navy, serving on the battleship USS SO Dakota during World War II. He was honorably discharged in 1945.

On September 18, 1948 he was united in marriage to Dorothy Meyer at St. John Lutheran Church in Red Lake Falls. The couple made their home in Red Lake Falls where Harry worked for the Red Lake Electric Cooperative for 40 years, retiring in 1987.

He was an active member of the American Legion Post in Red Lake Falls and the VFW of Thief River Falls. He was also a member of the Sportman's Club and enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening.

Harry is survived by his wife, Dorothy of Red Lake Falls; four daughters, Kathy (Corky) Kleven of Huntington Beach, CA, Linda (Jim) Potucek of Warren; Laurie Ford of Anchorage, AK and Kristie (Elroy) Hagen of Moorhead; two sons, Guy (Lori) Ford and Bryan Ford, both of Grand Forks, ND; 10 grandchildren; and one sister, Jean Beaudry of Romeo, MI.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Leo Ford and Elmer Ford; and one infant son, Bradley. A00003B1999MY05
