Palmer Fonnest, 92

Thief River Falls - Palmer Fonnest, 92, died Thursday, September 24, 1998 at Northwest Medical Center in Thief River Falls.

Funeral services were held on Monday, September 28 at 2 p.m. at Grace Lutheran Church in Grygla with Reverend Roberta Johnson officiating. Special music was provided by Joy Nordby. Casketbearers were Eddie Moe, Amos Thompson and Larry Vigen. Burial was in St. Olaf Cemetery in Valley township of Marshall county. The Green Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Palmer Harold Fonnest was born on May 13, 1906 in Veldt township of Marshall county, the son of Ben and Margia (Gware) Fonnest. He was baptized and confirmed at Liner Lutheran Church and attended school in Grygla. He farmed near Grygla and cut pulp at the Northwest Angle his entire life.

He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church.

Palmer is survived by one brother, Tron (Helen) Fonnest of Thief River Falls; and seven nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Mae Wernes and Adella Anderson.
