
Greenbush - Robert Bruce Evans, 70, died Thursday, April 2, 1998 at his home in Greenbush.
Funeral services were held on Monday, April 6 at 10 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Greenbush with Father Don Braukmann officiating. Special music was provided by Jeanne Novacek. Carol Kukowski, Sharon Foss and Leonard Chrzanowski were the eucharistic ministers. Giftbearers were Blake Olmstead and Dawn Evans. Aron Kukowski was the reader. Casketbearers were Bruce's Godchildren, LeRoy Trucinski, Julie Zipperer, Katrina Kukowski, Elizabeth Reese-Eide, Brian Kjos, Barry Kukowski, Mariah Evans, Sharon Foss, Dean Hann, Steve Evans, Carol Lasniewski, Brian Kukowski and Joni Fashing. Burial was in Blessed Sacrament Catholic Cemetery with military honors accorded by the Greenbush American Legion Post 88. Arrangements were with the Collins Funeral Home of Greenbush.
Robert Bruce Evans was born on July 11, 1927 at Middle River, the son of Robert and Florence (Wyman) Evans. As a child he moved with his family to Roseau and later to Greenbush. Bruce graduated from Greenbush High School. He served in the United States Navy during World War II and following his discharge returned to Greenbush where he drove a rural milk truck and worked for Reese Construction for several years.
On May 9, 1959 Bruce was united in marriage to Henryka Kukowski at Greenbush where they have since made their home. Bruce drove truck for Thorson Construction Co., Burkel Grain Service and Polaris Industries.
Bruce was a past commander of the American Legion Post in Greenbush and served on the Greenbush Fire Department for more than 25 years. He was a long-time member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church where he was a eucharistic minister, member of the church choir and active member of the Men's Club. He was also a hospice volunteer. He had been in failing health for the past five years.
Bruce is survived by his wife, Henryka; two sons, Bryce (Tracy) Evans and Jared, both of Greenbush; one daughter, Tamara (Tim) Olmstead of Roseau; six grandchildren; one sister, Helen "Patti" (Marshall) Gove of Ham Lake; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Stanley; and one sister, Carolyn.
